About the School
The Wind Horse School of Feng Shui is a certification program in Feng Shui in the Tibetan Buddhist Black Hat (BTB) tradition through the lineage of Grandmaster Lin Yun. The curriculum is taught in a small group setting over the length of nine months to a year in a “personal transformational program” called the Feng Shui Odyssey. This way, the student has the luxury of time to study and understand Feng Shui concepts, experiencing Feng Shui over a period of time and on a personal level, while witnessing others’ progress as well, for an optimal learning experience. To complete the program, students looking for certification will demonstrate their knowledge by conducting their own Feng Shui consultations, to be assessed by their teacher. The Wind Horse School of Feng Shui is recognized as a Gold Designated Program by the International Feng Shui Guild (the highest standard), and graduates will be eligible to take the Red Ribbon Assessment to become a Professional Red Ribbon Member of the Guild.
There are 27 Live Zoom classes from March through November, meeting mostly weekly via for 1.5+ hours. We also have on-going private group communication throughout the week on Slack.com.
There are three “weekend intensives” focused on certification, to be held on Zoom Live, 5 hours each day for 6+ days total.
Students will have outside reading, discussions, and videos, and will commence their own Feng Shui assessments (one residential, one business), plus one declutter session.
Topics to cover (in general, the weekend intensives are focused solely on Feng Shui principles, while the weekly meetings have anywhere to 45 min – 1.5 hours on Feng Shui principles)

Katie received her certification in Feng Shui in 2004 through the Feng Shui Training Center in Salt Lake City, where she studied under author Sharon Stasney in the Black Hat tradition through the line of Grandmaster Lin Yun. Katie is currently a member of the International Feng Shui Guild with Professional Red Ribbon status.
Katie stumbled upon Feng Shui in 1998, when working at a publishing company as an editor in a “sea of gray cubicles” under fluorescent lights. She intuitively grasped the negative effects this environment was having on the employees and had the bright idea to “make up a job going into businesses to make the environment better in order to create happier, more productive employees, therefore enhancing the bottom line of the company.” While browsing the interior decorating aisles of a bookstore in Austin, she came across Feng Shui and saw that job already existed. She put some of the tactics into place in her own home and in those of friends, and when she immediately started getting results, she was hooked.
Today, Katie has worked with hundreds of clients to improve their home and workspace, and therefore their lives. She’s written extensively on the topic of Feng Shui on her blog, and for online and print publications such as MindBodyGreen, YogaLife, Women Magazine, and more. She is also a public speaker on the topic, with diverse audiences that span from the Sun Valley Wellness Festival to Los Angeles, California to churches in Alabama. She is founder of the Feng Shui Color Readings and the Soul Essence Readings. She currently offers several online and in-person workshops, including the 9-month Odyssey, a personal transformational experience utilizing Feng Shui principles. In 2021, she opened the Wind Horse School of Feng Shui, a practitioner certification program in the tradition of BTB.
Katie is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in English and has studied story and filmmaking at New York Film Academy, Charles University in Prague, and King’s College in London. Furthermore, she is an arborist, Reiki master, and a mother to one wonderful daughter, an energetic dog, and a laid-back cat.
Katie’s specialties include:
the psychology of space
applying Feng Shui principles to today’s residential and work spaces
Law of Attraction principles and how to utilize them
Symbolism in a space
decluttering (according to Konmari principles)
dream and archetypal work
energy healing (Reiki)
staging for real estate
