IFSG Member Social Media Policy

As a living community rooted in the wisdom and diverse traditions of Feng Shui, we honor not only the flow of energy in spaces, but also in our words, actions, and digital presence. These guidelines are offered in the spirit of harmony, mutual respect, and ethical conduct, reflecting our shared commitment to professionalism, integrity, and the responsible stewardship of our field.
As a professional community rooted in shared values and diverse Feng Shui lineages, the International Feng Shui Guild encourages respectful, supportive, and inclusive interactions in all public and private forums, including social media. The following guidelines are intended to support constructive engagement across our platforms and beyond.
Purpose
These guidelines aim to:
- Maintain a respectful tone across discussions
- Promote inclusive dialogue among members
- Encourage authentic expression while upholding IFSG's values
- Protect the integrity and reputation of the Guild and its community
General Expectations for Online Conduct
Respect all schools of thought.
The IFSG honors a wide range of Feng Shui approaches. Members are expected to engage in a spirit of curiosity and professionalism, even when views differ. Disparaging remarks toward specific methods, teachers, or practitioners are not aligned with our mission.
Communicate with kindness and professionalism.
Whether commenting, posting, or messaging, we ask that members consider tone, language, and intent. Constructive questions, thoughtful insights, and open dialogue are welcome. Personal attacks, sarcasm, or inflammatory language are not.
Avoid using the Guild's name to promote personal views as policy.
While members are welcome to share their affiliations with the IFSG, no individual may claim to speak on behalf of the organization unless officially authorized.
Share content responsibly.
When referencing others’ work or quoting published content, give credit to the original source. Avoid sharing confidential, copyrighted, or misleading material.
Support collaboration over competition.
Celebrate fellow members’ successes. Offer guidance when invited. Our strength as a Guild lies in mutual respect and shared purpose.
Participation in IFSG Social Media Spaces
The IFSG hosts several online forums and spaces where members may engage. These include, but are not limited to, private Facebook groups, public pages, webinars, and member-only areas on the website.
Moderators may remove posts or comments that:
- Include personal attacks or inflammatory statements
- Promote a single school of thought at the exclusion of others
- Contain advertising or solicitations not approved in advance
- Share confidential Board or committee discussions
- Detract from a professional and welcoming environment
Repeat violations may result in temporary or permanent removal from IFSG-hosted groups, in alignment with our membership policies.
When in Doubt
If you have concerns about a post, encounter an issue in the community, or would like clarification on these guidelines, please reach out to the IFSG Office or a Board Member. We are here to support all members in cultivating a respectful and vibrant professional community.
Professional Conduct Regarding Consultations:
- Refrain from publicly critiquing another practitioner’s consultation—especially in situations where you were not directly involved or do not have full context.
- If someone raises concerns with you about a prior consultation, respond with professionalism and care. Avoid assumptions or speculation.
- If you believe a situation warrants further review, consider addressing it privately with the relevant professional body (e.g., IFSG, The Feng Shui Society).
- Avoid leveraging “alleged incidents” on social media to position or promote your own business.
These principles support the spirit of ethical practice, respect among peers, and a commitment to the integrity of our diverse professional community.
