The astrology calendar most people are familiar with is produced by Llewellyn, and they has been around for many years. But among bookstores it’s called the candy calendar, because it’s pretty, but is low on content. It features beautiful artwork depicting the twelve signs as mythological characters, and pairs those with the same kind of Sun Sign forecasts you can find in any fancy women’s magazine. With our global population hovering around seven billion people, each one of those little monthly forecasts apply to over five hundred thousand people. That’s not very personalized! The whole idea of Sun Sign forecasts goes back to the late 1800’s when steam powered printing presses dramatically expanded the reach of newspapers and magazines. The Sun Sign forecast was a great way to fill those column inches right next to the comics! They didn’t take it very seriously!
