Classical Feng Shui is a practice of harnessing the natural life forces (also known as Qi/Chi) in our surrounding environment to bring about prosperity, good fortune, harmony, and beneficial changes in our life. Although the practice originates from olden China, the principles apply to modern urban living. By analyzing the Qi in the environment with a particular method, we can tap into the positive energy and avoid negative energy.

Two primary schools of Classical Feng Shui are San He and San Yuan. The Feng Shui approach is usually known as the Li Qi (theory and calculation) and Luan Tou (landform feng shui) systems. Sometimes they’re classified as form and compass schools, which could be clearer because both use a compass. San He emphasizes Luan Tou (landform) more, while the San Yuan method emphasizes Li Qi (calculation).

Classical Feng Shui is not about decoration such as crystals, three-legged frogs, ba gua mirrors, wall paint color, or other similar decorative objects. It is also not about the type of plants, interior decor of a room, or specific lucky numbers. The practice of objects/symbolism that creates a psychological effect is mainly found under New-Age Feng Shui (or other names). Typically, an authentic Classical Feng Shui practitioner utilizes a Lou Pan (Feng Shui compass), analyzes location/direction, observes the environment, considers the time aspect, and considers each occupant of the property.

Feng Shui is never a religion or superstition, and it is not a trial-and-error work. If a method of Feng Shui is not traceable on which aspect of its San He/San Yuan base principles, then it is likely not Classical Feng Shui. While different practitioners prefer to use other methods, no single system dominates. Here is an analogy from a classic tale: A father of five blind sons brought an elephant home. Each kid touched the animal and asked them to describe it to him. Depending on the part of the elephant they touched, the description from each kid will be different as they can’t see or feel the elephant as a whole unit. In the Classical Feng Shui world, a particular method is a part of the system. Thus different practitioners will have other preferred methods and design results.

To provide an accurate analysis, Hadi uses different methods. San He Water and Landform method will be used to analyze the surroundings (it can go beyond a radius of 50 km / 30 miles from the property location), Eight Mansions/Najia/Dragon Gate Eight Formations method will be used to assess the property/individual’s preference based on the location/direction and Xuan Kong Flying Star method will be used to calculate and evaluate Qi based on the time and space aspects. All Feng Shui calculation work is done manually with an in-house program developed by Hadi himself.
