Feng Shui and Crystals
Crystals, with their natural beauty and energetic vibrations, are often used as powerful tools within Feng Shui. Each crystal carries unique qualities: rose quartz radiates love, citrine supports abundance, and amethyst encourages clarity and calm. When placed intentionally in the home or workplace, crystals can enhance specific areas of the Feng Shui bagua map, bringing balance, protection, and vitality to both the space and those who live within it.

There are two main types of crystals that are used in Feng Shui. First is the faceted round crystal you see hanging in spaces. It is usually round and clear, but can come in other colors depending on if you want to support a specific bagua, element, or energy. The second type are natural gems or crystals. Both have a purpose and unique uses, and both make excellent enhancements.

So, how do you know which to use and where to find them. [Hint: our experts can guide you. ☺️]
From Mindful Design for natural crystals, "our first recommendation when it comes to choosing a crystal is to let the crystal find you. If you go to a crystal store, see which stone you feel attracted to. You can treat this almost like an oracle, and look up the crystal later to see what it’s inviting you to work on. Even if you’re looking for a certain type of crystal, you can also notice which specific stone feels like the right one for you.
"We recommend setting an intention as you leave your home that you’re allowing a crystal to find you. Then, take your time and notice what happens when you set an intention and create a ritual like this. Maybe you’ll feel drawn to a different stone than what you were looking for, or maybe you’ll even find one on the sidewalk on your way to the store! This practice of going out with a formal intention but being open to different outcomes is a wonderful way to move through life."

"Did you know faceted crystals are one of the most powerful tools in Feng Shui? 💎
They aren’t just beautiful - they shift energy, balance chi, and bring harmony into your space.
💎 Hang a crystal in a window to spread rainbows and lift the energy.
💎 Use one in a hallway to slow down fast-moving chi.
💎 Place them where you need clarity, focus, or protection.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little sparkle to change the flow of energy in your home."

Ways to Clean Your Crystals
Alejandra G. Brady, Casa Shui Life
1. Under running water. Hold the crystal under running water and ensure it is completely covered and run the water over it for at least one minute. * This method is good for crystals that are hard, such as pink quartz. It is not good for soft stones like selenite.
2. Salt water. Mix one or two tablespoons of salt into a bowl. Leave it there for a few hours. Remove, rinse and dry. * Do not use on soft, porous or stones that contain metal.
3. The Sun & the Moon - Natural light is one of my favorite ways to clean and charge my stones. Set out your stones before bed and bring them in before the heat of the day, so the more sensitive stones like amethyst, don’t loose any color. Make sure there won’t be weather that may affect your stones.
4. Smudging - my go to for all my larger specimens. When I can’t move a crystal and place it under running water or carry it outside, I wipe it down to remove any dust and smudge it with sage. I usually allow the smoke to envelope the stone for 30 to 60 seconds. * This method is safe to use on ALL stones.
5. Sound healing - pull out your tuning fork, sound bowls, bell or turn on your TV and find a YouTube video with Tibetan Sound Healing music, classical music (Beethoven’s 5th, the OM mantra...) * This method is safe to use on ALL stones.
6. I also like to use my large clear Quartz cluster as a “cleaner.” I will first wipe the large stone down and smudge it. Then I will place my smaller stones on it and leave them there for the rest of the day. I like to do this a lot with my stone jewelry. I will lay my necklaces and bracelets all over the Quartz and collect them all at the end of the day. * This method is safe to use for ALL stones.

So, how often should you do this? The answer is, it depends. If you use a crystal on a daily basis, then I would suggest doing this every few days or at least once a week. I don’t always remember to do it, so I aim for every Full Moon (30 days).

How will I know if my crystal is clean? Mine honestly feel lighter to the touch after I do this. Trust your instinct. ✨

One of our favorite crystal finds has been the curated Feng Shui crystal set from Tori McBrien, of McBrien Interiors. As mentioned above in Suzanne's piece about crystals for the bagua, Tori uniquely brought together specific crystals for their color, properties, and shapes to represent each of the 9 life areas or guas. Tori's creativity shows that you can do SOOOO much with crystals (and really any Feng Shui enhancement).
