We both have a straight forward, modern approach to teaching the traditional principles of authentic Chinese Feng Shui, its historical origins, cultural philosophy, technical theories and correct practical contemporary applications.
Our classes are taught interactively live on zoom, with an exam module only taught face to face in the classroom. Students’ feedback about their successful learning outcomes has reassured us that our zoom class online teaching is both enjoyable and effective. All courses have ample class presentations, recordings or handouts, comprehensive resource manuals and personal mentoring support. Students who miss any sessions or who have not grasped everything during a class will easily be able to catch up.

Sylvia has a flair for effectively transposing traditional Feng Shui into the context of contemporary lifestyle, whilst retaining its authentic foundation. She has a dedicated passion for her work and for contributing to both her clients’ and students’ success, which is why she hugely enjoys helping course students to achieve the best outcome from their Feng Shui studies, supporting each and every one to gain competence and confidence. She holds the respected City & Guilds Adult Education teaching diploma.
Since 2006 Sylvia has been teaching Feng Shui and environmental subjects in collaboration with Chinese master Howard Choy, a world leading classical Feng Shui expert, architect and principal of the European College of Feng Shui (ECOFS). She has also conducted external mentoring of Ph.D and Masters degree students at Sheffield University’s School of Architecture.
Prior to establishing Feng Shui Living in 1994, Sylvia spent ten years learning the basics of classical Feng Shui in Hong Kong before undertaking extensive professional training with three distinguished Chinese masters, Yap Cheng Hai, Joseph Yu and Peter Leung, also studying with Raymond Lo, Lillian Too and Joey Yap. Sylvia is an Honorary Life Fellow and past Chair of the UK’s Feng Shui Society, an affiliate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Landscape Institute, with an NDA diploma in interior design.
Sylvia is also professionally qualified in colour therapeutics, counselling, aromatherapy, nutrition & naturopathic healthcare and environmental practices, healing and dowsing. These, together with her former commercial career background in property development, business management, catering, fashion and textiles buying, contribute valuably to the breadth of Sylvia’s expertise. Married with three grown up children and bi-lingual, she loves garden design, snorkelling, dancing, painting, writing, consulting, teaching, giving presentations and meeting people.
Her versatile skills, experience and empathetic approach enable her to provide a truly comprehensive, high quality specialist contribution to traditional Feng Shui education.
