COMMITTEE GUIDELINES

IFSG Welcome Committee team members should be:

•  An IFSG Member in good standing (up to date on their membership).
• Willing to serve a minimum one-year term. Ideally, committee members serve 1-3 years.  Should a volunteer decide to step off the committee, we ask that the team member give a two-week notice to the committee team lead(s).
• Willing to buddy with a minimum of six new members each year as assigned by the committee team lead(s).
• Able to attend and participate in Zoom committee meetings (there are six 1-hour meetings each year).
• Willing to participate in at least one New Member Event via Zoom each year.  We plan a New Member Event each quarter.
• Able to communicate the goals of the IFSG, showcasing the benefits of membership with new members assigned to you. 

Here’s what’s involved:

• Connect with your new member after receiving their contact information as soon as possible.  Try to accomplish the activities outlined below within 60 days of being given their contact information. 
• Reach out on Zoom or a phone call with the new member to help them feel welcome and connected. 
• Help new & returning members with:
• understanding how to access, create and update their directory profile listing (Professional level only as Student members do not have a directory listing) 
•  invite & encourage them to participate in the Topic of the Month calls and other free IFSG events 
• encourage them to participate in the Facebook Online Community 
• solicit feedback from them on how to make IFSG even better
•  invite/encourage them to attend IFSG special events at a discount, as part of their membership

• When attending an event, make sure to invite your new members and introduce them to anyone else attending the IFSG event
• Be willing to support other welcome committee members in new member outreach as needed
• Sign the IFSG Committee Member Confidentiality Agreement & send to IFSG office

Committee team lead(s) reserve the right to ask a volunteer to step off the committee if the volunteer can no longer commit to adhering to and embracing the above activities.
